Coming-of-age drama about a teenage girl in the 90s whose world changes when she meets a mysterious hit and run victim.
Our protagonist lives a dreary existence of caring for her mother which forces her to mentally be a 'lone ranger'. Running with that idea, I scored the character she transforms into at the end of the movie and have that grow alongside our lead. I saw her as a female John Wayne, but a character who grows into her strength, rather than her recognising it was always there. The musical tone was almost like a classic cowboy western if set in a whimsical delusion.
A £30 acoustic guitar from the charity shop shone in this score, whilst being supported by harmonicas, celestas and electric guitars. The textures were created with mandolins, human whistling, timpani, glockenspiels and more.
